To determine your natural body harmony colors:
CHEEKS: Pinch cheeks - match a blush color to be either an exact match (preferably), or a close and harmonious match to the color on your cheek when you naturally blush.
I mean think about it.....makeup is to enhance, not fake, it should be natural looking. You always want makeup that looks as though you are not wearing any makeup!! You can always take your colors a tad darker or brighter for drama if that is the look you want.
LIPS: Pull out lower lip, look at fleshy part and at base near gums (ignore veins!!!), the color of those areas should be your best and most natural looking lip colors. Try to find an exact match (preferably), or a close and harmonious match to your inner lip color. Take this color and deepen, lighten, brighten or mute it and you should get a good lipstick color for you.
Now......take your new found cheek and lip colors and hold them up next to your palm - do they match, blend, or otherwise harmonize with your palm color? They should. You can apply the makeup to your palm and see if they blend, match, or harmonize as well.
Now that you have these colors it is time to go through your closets.....basically your natural body colors are right, and always will be, no doubt about it - so, no need for color draping, consultations, or anything - once you find your natural colors take them with you shopping (start with your closets!), and if the clothes blend, match, or otherwise look harmonious with your colors they will be keepers.
Other tidbits:
I was taught to never wear a color brighter than your eyes near your face, it will distract from your eyes, and after all they should be your focal point.
Never wear a white brighter or whiter than your teeth. To do so will make your teeth look more dull or discolored, and after all we do want our pearly whites to be a focal point as well
Best Whites:
The whites of your eyes and your teeth
Best accent colors:
The colors found in your eyes
Level of Brightness:
That equal to your eyes
Best Reds:
Inner lip color, palm color, pinched finger tip color, sqeezed skin color
Best Neutral:
Hair color
NOTE: Although at the time I was learning this and exploring with my own views on color analysis, I had not heard of nor knew of Irenee Riter, her method is most close to my own. I therefore do suggest to all in search of color to review her works. smiley: happy"
