1. For a 16" x 16" pillow, you'll need a total of 38 pieces of 7/8" satin ribbon in assorted colors. Cut each ribbon piece to 18" long.
2. Cut an 18" x 18" piece of woven fusible interfacing and place, fusible side up, on a piece of foam core. Begin laying ribbons in the color order you want.
3. Pin ribbons to interfacing in a straight row, creating your warp (figure A).
4. For the weft, start at the top, weaving in and out between the warp ribbons. Alternate the weaving pattern with every row. Pin each ribbon into place on both ends.
5. Once all your ribbons are woven together, lightly fuse ribbon to interfacing with a warm, dry iron (figure
. Remove all the pins and transfer entire piece to an ironing board to continue fusing, pressing on the backside of the interfacing.
6. Attach decorative rope piping to pillow face, by stitching around all sides and overlapping raw ends (figure C).
7. For the back, cut a 17" x 17" piece of coordinating fabric and sew with right sides together, leaving a 5" opening for turning and stuffing.
8. Turn pillow right side out, stuff with Poly-Fil or a pillow blank, and sew closed by hand (figure D).
