Tom Pecheux used a fabulous French expression for this new multi-layered colored eye that goes from brow to lid; “degrade.” It went from burgundy to brown to golden bronze with the golden pigment just above the pupils. In fact, it was rose pink, a new M·A·C Pigment for fall, without a name so far. “Then I put a bit of green in the corners of the eye – just for fun!” he added. Gucci Westman did it wildly different at Behnaz – she did two-thirds of the models in a gray pigmented eye from lid to brow, but did the other one third in either lime green or fuchsia purple – we’re talking lid to lash. The colors reflected the colors in the clothing – and she even used the respective colors to “flock” the lashes instead of contrasting with dark mascara. It was a case of pop art meets op-tical art!
