Sveikos,
nesusiturėjau, ir pagalvojau, kad reik mum visoms žinoti, kaip gali nutikti ir saugoti savo mažyliukus nuo tokių pasekmių
Čia pasisakymas vienas gydytojos iš forumo:
"I received a very distressing call from a young lady called Sharon last week. Sharon had a twin brother called Trevor who had SWCAH ( AGS drusku netenkamoji forma) and had unfortunately caught a sickness and diarrhoea bug - probably the norovirus that is going around. She told me that he was rushing to the toilet every 30 mins or so and obviously was not keeping his medication down. Like most of us when we are ill with bugs like this, he went to bed but unfortunately Trevor did not wake up the following morning and had suffered an adrenal crisis and died in his sleep.
Sharon is very keen for others to be made aware of Trevor's fate, so that he did not die in vain. Whilst patients with CAH are normally very healthy, viruses like this are life threatening and can take us by surprise. It is vital that patients receive emergency hydrocortisone cover, to avoid an adrenal crisis. Obviously extra tablets cannot be kept down and an injection is therefore necessary, so make sure you have an emergency injection kit on hand and that the hydrocortisone solution is in date. Also hospitalisation is usually required, as patients may dehydrate too, so will require a drip. Do not hesitate, if you/your child has CAH and cannot keep his/her medication down, you must not ignore it and must seek medical attention immediately. Call an ambulance if necessary - it is a potentially life threatening situation!
Please, let us learn from Trevor's death and stop any one else with CAH dying unnecessarily. Follow the guidelines for emergency procedures given to you by your consultant, which are also on the support group therapy card, for those of you who are members.
Sharon if you are looking at this forum, thank you for the warning. I am sure Trevor would be extremely proud of the fact that even whilst grieving, you are reaching out to help others. God bless you, you are an amazing person, and as your twin, I am sure Trevor was too. May he rest in peace."
